One of the biggest complaints from new mothers to be are the inevitable skin stretch marks that go hand in hand with that growing tummy. There are several products on the market designed to deal with stretch marks, and we recently tested one of the leading products from Tummy Honey.
The Stretch Mark Prevention Butter by Tummy Honey is one of three products in their stretch mark line. The butter is designed primarily as stretch mark prevention, and comes in a solid gel similar in consistency to petroleum jelly, although Tummy Honey butter contains no petroleum.
There's also stick and cream Tummy Honey products available, where the cream is intended to fade existing stretch marks.
We got to sample the butter product, and at first try we were pleased to find just how pleasant and subtle the fragrance was. Many similar products tend to have an over-powering scent that can easily be "too much". The comforting and subdued floral scent of Tummy Honey Butter's has just the slightest hint of honey.
The product claims to have anti-itch ingredients and is hypoallergenic. Our tester moms reported no issues at all in using the butter, so it should be safe for even those with the most sensitive skin.
Healthy skin is composed of 70% water, and when skin stretches a contributing reason for stretch marks is loss of moisture. Tummy Honey Butter helps combat the trend by providing additional moisture, and more importantly locking in that moisture similar to the way lip balm works.
Almost all our tester moms reported their skin felt more moisturized at the point of use. 50% said they thought Tummy Honey Butter prevented their existing stretch marks from worsening, while the rest said it was too early to tell (we'll keep you posted).
Overall the consensus is if you can do something to try and prevent stretch marks, then why not? Especially at only $19.95, Tummy Honey Butter won't set you back as much as other competing products which tend to sell for many times that.
