This product was recommended for slightly older kids than John (15 months), so we didn't get the total effect of what the toy has to offer. He did really enjoy it a lot though.
Since it's a beginning puzzle, I liked that all the pieces were the same shape. Anywhere John put the piece, it fit. That made it less frustrating for him (and me). I also liked that each of the pieces had a little handle for the nose. It made it nice for John to manipulate.
There were multiple puzzle boards (another plus), so there were lots of new things for him to look at. He especially liked the farm ones (he's into animals now). This will be a fun toy when he gets a little older.
I like how it encourages matching by asking "Who belongs in the police car?" and the little ones will have to find the police puzzle piece. That's beyond John now, but it will be a wonderful activity when he's working on matching. It would be a fun game to play when kids are learning about jobs people do in the community.
The one problem was how flimsy the puzzle pieces are. At 2 John may not be putting as much in his mouth, but now he would demolish the little cardboard pieces if I wasn't there to stop him. They seem like they would fall a part quickly in a little ones mouth.
This one will be a lot of fun for him to play with as he grows!
